Reports To: Director and Supervisor of Food Services
Job Goal:
The job of Cafeteria Operator is done for the purpose of preparing and distributing food items for consumption by students and school personnel; and maintaining facilities in a clean and sanitary condition.
Performance Responsibilities
- Arranges food and beverage items for the purpose of making them available to students and staff.
- Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Cleans utensils, equipment, and the storage, food preparation and serving areas for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions.
- Inspects food items and/or supplies for the purpose of verifying the quantity and specifications of orders and/or complying with mandated health requirements.
- Monitors kitchen and cafeteria areas for the purpose of ensuring a safe working environment.
- Prepares daily item counts and associated reports for the purpose of providing documentation for items served.
- Prepares food and beverage items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and projected meal requirements.
- Responds to in quires of students, staff and the public for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding the type and/or cost of meals.
- Serves one or more items of food for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel.
- Stocks food, condiments and supplies for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities and security of items.
- Other duties as assigned.

Body Positioning
- Requires standing lifting a 10-pound can of food; a case of canned product of approximately 36 pounds; a case of meat of 30-40 pounds; and a bag of flour or sugar of approximately 25-50 pounds.
- Requires lifting and reaching in multiple positions of up to 50 pounds.
- Requires mopping/sweeping-bending and reaching in multiple body positions and exerting pressure with arms extended with a weight of approximately 15 pounds.
- Requires assembly of ingredients from storage to various locations for production-lifting from multiple positions up to 50 pounds
- Requires panning products for serving-lifting from multiple positions up to 50 pounds.
- Requires loading and unloading cooking equipment with various food products-lifting from multiple positions up to 50 pounds.
- Requires loading and restocking serving line with various products-lifting from multiple positions up to 50 pounds.
- Requires loading and unloading dish racks in dish machine-lifting from multiple positions up to 25 pounds.
- Requires cleaning and sanitizing equipment-lifting from multiple positions up to 25 pounds.
- Requires storage of food products and equipment-lifting from multiple positions up to 50 pounds.
- Requires cashiering and operation of register system to collect money and meal counts; consolidation of money and meal totals and preparation of deposits; restocking of condiments and ala carte items-prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
